The Intouch Connection buses are highly accessible and are equipped with ramps and an anchoring system for a wheelchair.
The ramps are beneficial for both wheelchair passengers and those that have trouble utilizing steps. The driver will extend the ramp upon request.
Max weight capacity for the ramp is 800 lbs. If you feel the combined weight of your service vehicle and your person may exceed this weight limit, it would be the recommendation that you utilize the accessible transit which can be reached at 519-436-3233.
The front seat on the bus is priority seating. The seat(s) are designated for guardians with young children, those with physical disabilities, seniors and those with walking aides; walkers, canes, etc. Strollers are permitted on the bus, but for safety reasons, the child must be removed from the stroller and the stroller must be folded up and strapped in using the provided straps in the priority seating area.
The priority seating area is based on a First Come, First Serve basis. Drivers will not ask riders to vacate the seat if the current seated rider requires it.
The Intouch Connection buses are wheelchair accessible and are able to accommodate one (1) wheelchair at a time.
The rider is expected to wheel themselves up the ramp on their own accord into the designated location and apply their wheel locks. The driver will attach anchors to the wheelchair to ensure that it does not roll while the bus is in motion. The driver will also put a seat belt across the patron to ensure that the patron does not fall out of their stationary chair while the bus is in motion.
There is a stop button designated for the wheelchair patron that sounds a different tone to alert the driver that their stop is coming up so that the driver is aware they will be required to extend the ramp and remove the anchoring system.
